Who I work with

Brian works with teens ages 15+, young adults, and adults who may be struggling with anxiety, depression, complex trauma and CPTSD, relationship difficulties, family conflict, grief, addiction, childhood abuse, or simply the feeling that something in their life needs to change. Some clients come to therapy because they feel overwhelmed or stuck. Others recognize patterns in their emotions or relationships that they understand intellectually but continue to repeat. And some are trying to understand how experiences from earlier in life continue to influence who they are today. Brian works to create a safe, trusting, and nonjudgmental space where clients can better understand these patterns, develop practical ways of navigating difficult emotions, and reconnect with parts of themselves that may have been pushed aside or abandoned along the way.

My approach

Brian believes meaningful change becomes possible when you have a space to speak honestly, explore your thoughts and emotions without judgment, and begin understanding the patterns shaping your life. His approach is collaborative and person-centered, drawing from DBT, ACT, attachment-based therapy, mindfulness, and contemplative psychotherapy. His graduate training in Contemplative Psychotherapy and more than a decade of meditation practice also inform his ability to help clients develop greater awareness of their internal experiences without making mindfulness or meditation a requirement of therapy. When working with complex trauma and difficult childhood experiences, Brian recognizes that healing isn’t simply about revisiting what happened. Therapy can also involve understanding how those experiences continue to affect your emotions, relationships, sense of safety, and relationship with yourself today. He doesn’t see therapy as a process of “fixing” you. Instead, it can be a place to reconnect with your strengths, develop greater clarity and self-compassion, and rediscover parts of yourself that may have become difficult to access. From that foundation, therapy can support not only relief from distress, but healthier relationships, greater freedom in how you respond to life, and a deeper sense of meaning and purpose.

What therapy with me looks like

You don’t have to figure it out alone. Therapy with Brian is collaborative, thoughtful, and practical. Together, you’ll explore how your experiences, thoughts, and emotions influence your behaviors and relationships while developing tools to better navigate life’s challenges. Some sessions may focus on understanding a recurring relationship pattern. Others may involve learning how to stay present with difficult emotions, developing skills for emotional regulation or distress tolerance, exploring the impact of complex trauma, or simply slowing things down enough to understand what is happening beneath the surface. The goal isn’t to tell you who you should become. It’s to create an environment where you can better understand yourself, strengthen your relationship with yourself, and begin uncovering and reclaiming parts of yourself that may have been abandoned along the way—so you can show up in your life and relationships with greater intention, authenticity, and choice.
